Join us as we journey from Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang and explore the fascinating textile, handcraft and cultural traditions of the ethnic communities of northern Thailand and Laos: Hmong batik, embroidery and weaving; Karen back-strap loom weaving; Lisu patchwork, appliqué and basketmaking; kheuapiad (jungle vine) fibre craft; indigo and natural dyeing; eco-printing; Tai Lue silk weaving; Kmhmu basketry; SIX hands-on workshops; traditional ethnic costumes, a private textile collection, textile galleries, fabulous textile markets, artisan studios, textile villages, temples, spectacular scenery, a Mekong River cruise and delicious local cuisine. 1. Please read all documents thoroughly to determine if the tour is right for you, carefully noting the health, fitness, mobility and insurance requirements.
2. To apply for a place on the tour, please download and complete the Booking Application Form and Fitness to Travel declaration and submit them by email to retreatrecreate@gmail.com when bookings open at 09:00AM on 27 MARCH 2026 AEDT. Please write THAI LAOS in the subject header of your email. Note: If Australian Eastern Daylight Time is not your timezone, simply google and calculate the time difference and use your email settings to schedule your email to send at the correct time.
Important Notes:
- a deposit of AUD$1500 will be required to secure your booking with the tour balance due by 24 September 2026. Instructions for payment will be provided to successful applicants;
- the tour price and inclusions can be found on the last page of the Itinerary;
- If AUD (Australian dollar) is not your local currency you may wish to use XE online currency converter for a guide to an approximate equivalent price, however all payments must be made in AUD;
- this tour is for women only;
- the minimum group size is 8;
- the maximum group size is 14 women;
- a deposit of AUD$1500 will be required to secure your booking. Instructions for payment will be provided to successful applicants;
- the tour price and inclusions can be found on the last page of the Itinerary;
- If AUD (Australian dollar) is not your local currency you may wish to use XE online currency converter for an approximate equivalent price, however all payments must be made in AUD;
- the tour is for women only;
- our minimum group size is 8;
- our maximum group size is 13 guests;
- if we don’t achieve our minimum group size, the tour will not proceed and your deposit will be refunded or credited to a future tour;
- the tour will be accompanied by retreat|recreate host, Susan Keeble and a local, English-speaking tour guide;
- places are not necessarily allocated on a first-in basis as we may need to juggle bookings according to available single/twin room allocations. We strongly recommend you submit your application promptly;
- if we receive more applications than there are places, unsuccessful applicants may request to be added to the waiting list;
- the itinerary provided doesn’t include names of hotels, etc. A more detailed itinerary will be provided to successful applicants closer to departure
- travellers need to have good fitness and mobility to participate in this tour. See the Trip Notes and Application Form for more details.
